Future Mobility: Core applications for autonomous driving

With the experience of more than 200 million kilometers driven "by-wire"  Paravan supports leading manufacturers in the automotive industry in bringing autonomous and semi-autonomous test vehicles, prototypes and functional design with a multi-redundant drive-by-wire system on the road safely. The system is approved according to the EU standards ECE R10, ECE R13 and ECE R79 for the official road use. This proven and safe control of the primary functions of the company from Pfronstetten-Aichelau provides an important  technology for providing increased safety in the development of autonomous vehicles of the future.

The automotive industry has been developing assistance and sensor systems for some time now. Using radar, laser and cameras etc., these systems provide guidance and support in decision-making for automated driving. Space Drive offers you the opportunity actually to use these technologies on the road or off-road for the first time. The only technology with road-approved redundancy that genuinely executes signals such as "now accelerate – swerve – brake". Reliably and in nanoseconds. This makes Space Drive globally unique.

About 100 partially and fully autonomous prototypes Paravan have already been equipped with the fail-safe driving and steering system by Space Drive II.

Levels of automation

Off-Highway Applications

Off the road: Driverless driving also possible from a second control station.

Safe technology: Space Drive enables vehicle operation in critical situations without anybody sitting in the cockpit. The driver gets out of the vehicle, activates the radio remote control and controls the vehicle from the outside. Ideal for humanitarian missions, military purposes or extreme terrain:

Local authorities use Space-Drive technology in their fleets, there is a great deal of interest amongst the agricultural community and drive-by-wire is also gaining recognition in haulage and at depots. Examples of situations in which conventional driving can be combined with remote control or programmed procedures include:

Driverless test systems and autonomous "pilot vehicles"

Endurance and precision for special tasks

The redundant drive-by-wire system SPACE DRIVE is predestined for autonomous vehicle testing and sensor technology. Typical applications are durability tests (e.g., 24 hour tests) dynamic tests (Durability Tests), dynamic sensor tests, ADAS evaluation, vehicle misuse tests, high speed tests. The PARAVAN system can also be used as an advance vehicle for autonomous test drives for the autonomous control of "hare vehicles". Recorded test tracks can be recorded by the TrueTrack system from PARAVAN and can be traced pecisely as often as possible. The vehicles can be stopped at any time by means of a control room or remote control. Can also be used as a retrofit solution for almost all vehicle types.

There is a wide range of possible applications for Space Drive beyond the automotive sector. Multifunctional motor control via LIN, CAN or FlexRay, by laptop or remote control is ideally suited to partially- and fully-automated processes:

Space Drive is a system that is unrivalled in the world – a real breakthrough. It allows persons with low residual strength, a large girth, minimum movement capabilities and even those without limbs to safely drive a car. With Space Drive, you activate the brake, accelerator, and steering wheel (and of course all the other functions) using driving aids controlled by microprocessors. These transmit the signals in nanoseconds to two servo motors for the brake and accelerator and two others for the steering ("Drive by Wire"). We configure the single modules individually. We readjust the software and hardware on-site if your clinical picture changes.
