Awards for innovations
Probably no other medium-sized company in Germany has received as many awards as Paravan GmbH has to date. However, no other company has such wonderful customers – customers who have made us what we are: passionate Swabian innovators who have a deep sense of social commitment and have achieved great success. Since the company was established in 1998, we have been presented every year with important awards, which now number more than 50. Incidentally, our prize money always flows directly back into research and development.
Research and Applied Engineering Award 2015 presented to Roland Arnold
Roland Arnold, founder and CEO of PARAVAN GmbH, and now Chairman of Schaeffler Paravan Technologie GmbH & co.KG as well, was awarded first prize for outstanding performance in research and applied engineering at the 2015 ADED Annual Conference in Louisville, Kentucky (U.S.) for the development of the first street-legal drive-by-wire system with triple redundancy: SPACE DRIVE II. This system not only allows even severely disabled people to safely drive a vehicle with a joystick (with more than a billion kilometers already driven on public roads); it also serves as the basis for autonomous driving, as the top-notch jury of well known scientists and economic experts concluded when making its decision.
The award was presented to Rolf Gramenske and Gregory Long from PARAVAN GmbH in the U.S.
GERMAN INDUSTRY AWARD 2012
During the “Night of Innovation” at the world-famous Hanover Trade Fair Center, Paravan Managing Director Roland Arnold was presented with the German Industry Award in the category “Automotive” by Prof. Bruno O. Braun, President of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). The new, triple-redundant “Space Drive 2” steering and driving system was singled out from over 500 entries by the top-notch 30-strong jury.
Equipped with numerous new features, the evolutionary joystick steering collection from the Paravan mobility park offers disabled individuals absolute unrestricted mobility with fail-safe operation. “The future of the automobile depends to a significant degree on the advanced technology used for disability vehicles,” said Professor Spiegelberg from the Technical University of Munich (TUM). “The patented innovations of the visionary Roland Arnold already make it possible to develop entirely new concepts for vehicle interiors.”
Such concepts include interiors with no steering column, steering wheel, or dashboard – but instead with a joystick, display, and flat screen. This makes it possible to build smaller, more environmentally friendly, and more fuel-efficient / energy-efficient cars that offer greater interior space and the highest levels of comfort. In addition, only environmentally compatible materials, including designer water-based paints, are used for production.
N-TV Hidden Champion 2012 in the category “Social Responsibility”
Within the framework of Global Business Week, the “Hidden Champion” SME award in the category “Social Responsibility” was presented to Paravan CEO Roland Arnold by the n-tv news channel at a ceremony held at the Steigenberger Hotel in Frankfurt am Main. The high-caliber jury and board of trustees made up of figures from the worlds of business, media, and society at large were won over by the corporate philosophy shared and practiced by all Paravan employees – which is to offer disabled people a better quality of life by supplying a full range of evolutionary mobility products. Arnold's mobility park beat more than 100 other successful companies to receive the award in the category of Social Responsibility in recognition of the social commitment Paravan has shown. Among other things, this commitment is demonstrated in the work performed by the “Roland & Martina Arnold PARAVAN Foundation,” which offers support to families who have disabled children and are in need of assistance.
Excellence TOP-Rating 2012
Excellence TOP Rating – PARAVAN received the RATING "1" from the world-famous, internationally recognized ratings agency, Hoppenstedt. This means that PARAVAN is one of the few companies in Germany that managed to reproduce 2011's outstanding result in 2012. The company was thus presented with this coveted award for the second time running.
