The development company PARAVAN has turned the innovative disabled vehicle technology into the first street-legal, fully-electronic steering and driving system boasting multiple safety features. This revolutionary technology, integrated in a BMW M330i Race Car based on a WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) race car is steered without the use of a mechanical steering column, and guarantees an endless race feeling. Even at the highest speeds. Under the brand name Space Drive, the multi award-winning Drive-by-wire system forms the basis for autonomous driving for the digital, safe operation of the primary functions of accelerating, braking and steering.
Paravan is working flat out to further develop it. The next project involves equipping a BMW M4 with the same Space Drive technology. The objective is to enable the autonomous drifting of the tuned race car. Paravan is enjoying the support of drift champions Alexander and Corinna Gräff in their endeavour. They are both heavily involved in the construction of the vehicle, and will carry out extensive tests of the new technology in the extreme situation of drifting. In the coming year, Paravan will also sponsor the “Speed Drift Germany” series of drifts by the two world-class experts.
“Speed Drift Germany” and Paravan are offering an initial overview of the collaboration at this year’s Motorshow Essen. Interested visitors can inform themselves about the exhilarating project between 26 November and 4 December 2017 and experience the Paravan race car at the Paravan GmbH stand in Hall 7a stand 109.
